Meizhou People's Hospital (Meizhou Academy of Medical Sciences, Huangtang Hospital) was founded in 1896, the predecessor of the Swiss Basel Committee founded the "Deji Hospital", is one of the oldest Western medical hospitals in China, Guangdong Province, one of the largest modern and comprehensive national level 3A hospitals. It is one of the hospitals with the longest history of Western medicine in China and one of the largest modern and comprehensive national Grade A hospitals in Guangdong Province. Based in Meizhou, it radiates to Heyuan, Jieyang, Chaozhou, western Fujian, Gannan and other areas bordering Guangdong, Fujian and Ganan, and serves a population of more than 20 million.
Meizhou People's Hospital has one provincial key laboratory and two provincial engineering technology research centres, which have been rated A+ for three consecutive years and ranked among the top 100 hospitals in China in terms of comprehensive strength.
